Enrolling in a New Zealand University to pursue a nursing degree where you may receive some credits for prior study.

Nursing Council of New Zealand registration is required for overseas qualified nurses who want to work in New Zealand. The Nurse may apply for an annual renewing practicing certification after the Nursing Council of New Zealand has approved the registration. Midwives are required to apply for a Midwifery Council of New Zealand certificate, as they are the midwives’ regulatory body. Midwifery and nursing are two separate professions that must be registered with both councils.

The Health Practitioners Competence Assurance act 2003 requires that applications are evaluated on a per-case basis. The Council has a reciprocal system for registering with Australia.
