Overseas Nurse Registration- Australia
A nursing qualification equivalent to an international one (or the completion of a bridge program).
Proof of competence to practice within the scope and limits of your profession
To be eligible for nursing registration, you must have the necessary skills to effectively communicate in English. Before registering, candidates must take an English Language Test.
Experience after registration- Documentation of two years post-registration in the past five years, while a registered nurse. This must be in written form and confirmed by employers. This does not apply for new graduates that have completed their training in New Zealand during the past year.
English language proficiency
The applicant must score at least 7.0 on the Reading, Listening & Speaking and 6.5 on Writing for IELTS Academic test.
OR
You must score a B or better (350 points) in each of the three bands: listening, reading and speaking. C+ (300). This is the minimum score for OET writing.

The education and examinations that lead to your registration as a registered nurse were conducted in English, either in Canada, the United States of America, Singapore, Ireland or the United Kingdom.
You may be asked by the Council to show proof that your nursing training was completed in English. For example, you could provide a transcript of your educational provider.

If you are a registered nurse in Canada, the United States of America, the United Kingdom or Ireland and have to take an English test as part of your registration, then this is the right place for you.
Programmed of Competence Assessment (CAP).
New Zealand Nursing Council has prescribed a Competency Assessment Program.
The purpose of the Bridging Programs is to teach and assess all necessary skills to be a safe nurse in New Zealand. The course is a 45-60 day short term program conducted by New Zealand polytechnics or healthcare providers. Successful completion of the competency programmer allows overseas nurses to register in New Zealand, and an annual practicing certificate is issued.

Exceptions
You may not be required to do a CAP if you are registered in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, United States of America, Ireland or the United Kingdom. The role of the nurse and the healthcare environment in these countries are similar.
